Once the consulate, and the oldest US diplomatic post in the world, the American Legation was established in 1821 after Morocco became the first country to recognize the newly independent United States of America. Opening its doors in 1956, the museum traces the history of relations between the two nations. Exhibits in the stately building include artworks by Marguerite McBey and Hassan El Glaoui.
